This open source software was created by Louisville Metro Government's Office of Performance Improvement & Innovation in conjunction with the Department of Information Technology's Web Services team. It acts as a middleware application layer between multiple disparate systems that are owned or operated by Louisville Metro Government agencies, coordinates those applications to the private service known as IFTTT. This is important for a variety of reasons.
This enables Louisville Metro Government to democratize Open Data for normal citizens. This creates applications from this raw data in a light touch framework, that allows the citizen to choose their level of interaction with government services.
Historically, government has been substandard in offering the digital service experience to citizens. IFTTT provides a structure not only in terms of branding of the service, but from a technical level as well, with a very strict API.
